Feeding Your Gerbil
Gerbils make great family pets, and one of the best parts about having a gerbil is their interesting diet. Here are some of the things that gerbils should eat:
- Seeds: These are the most important part of a gerbil’s diet and should make up the bulk of their food. Popular seed-based snacks like sunflower seeds, chia seeds, and pumpkin seeds are all suitable for gerbils.
- Legumes: These should also make up a large portion of the gerbil’s diet. Popular legume-based snacks like peanuts, peas, berries, and dried beans are all suitable for gerbils.
- Fruits: Fruits can make up a small portion of the gerbil’s diet. Popular fruit-based snacks like bananas, apples, oranges, and grapes are all suitable for gerbils.
- Nuts:Nuts can be given as occasional treats to gerbils. Popular nut-based snacks like almonds, cashews, and walnuts are all suitable for gerbils.
- Vegetables:Vegetables can also be given as occasional treats to gerbils. Popular vegetable-based snacks like spinach, carrots, celery, and peas are all suitable for gerbils.
Gerbils need to have a balanced diet in order to remain healthy and active. Make sure to provide them with seeds, legumes, fruits, nuts, and vegetables to satisfy their nutritional needs. Additionally, it is important to provide fresh, clean water for your gerbil at all times.
