What Human Food Can Rabbits Eat?
Rabbits make wonderful pets and knowing what they can safely eat is essential in providing them with the best care. Human food can sometimes be a great supplement to your rabbit’s diet, so it’s important to know what kinds of human food are safe for them.
Fruits
The following types of fruits are safe to feed to your rabbit in small to moderate amounts:
- Apple (without seeds)
- Bananas
- Blueberries
- Cherries
- Cranberries
- Mango
- Papaya
- Pears
- Raspberries
- Strawberries
Vegetables
Your rabbit can also benefit from a few kinds of human-food vegetables. Limit these to no more than a quarter cup per day.
- Carrots (shredded)
- Kale
- Parsley
- Spinach
- Zucchini
Treats
In very small amounts and rarely, rabbits can enjoy these tasty treats:
- Cheerios
- Popcorn (plain and air-popped)
- Sunflower seeds (hulled and unsalted)
Remember that human food should only make up a small portion of your rabbit’s diet and should not be a substitute for hay and other appropriate rabbit food. As with any pet, be sure to check with your veterinarian before making changes to your rabbit’s diet.
