The rat behind the Ninja Turtles
The popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,who fight for justice across the city of New York, were led by a wise rat sensei named Splinter. Although his true name is Hamato Yoshi, Splinter has been his nickname ever since the four turtles were born.
Origin of Splinter
Splinter started his life as an ordinary pet rat, given to an old man called Hamato Yoshi by his friend,Master Tatsu. Hamato Yoshi was a Utrom, an alien race that was banished from the Triceratons several centuries ago. When Tatsu was gone, Yoshi loved the rat and treated him like his son.
Life with the Turtles
When Yoshi was killed by an evil man called Shredder, the rat who became Splinter was given to a young boy called Miyamoto Usagi, who became the turtles’ adoptive father. Splinter taught his beloved turtles the fundamentals of Ninjutsu, and also imparted his wisdom on them.
Being a Leader
Splinter’s leadership skills are not to be underestimated. He is an experienced and knowledgeable martial artist, always making sure he provides the turtles with the best advice. He is patient and compassionate, yet fierce and courageous when necessary.
